Domestic Assault

Domestic Assault is a very real and present danger in every community in Minnesota. Over the past 20 years, it is by far the most common form of assault that I have investigated.

Often it starts with verbal abuse and fear and then escalates to physical abuse. A common factor in almost every case is alcohol or drugs.

When people are under the influence of a substance they will say and do things that they would not do while sober.

There are warning signs to look for and many people have a "gut feeling" that something is wrong but chose to dismiss their instincts for fear of getting involved in someone else's business.

If you want more information regarding domestic assault and what to look for I encourage you to call WRAP (Women's Rural Advocacy Program) in Marshall, Minnesota at 507-532-9532.

They are staffed with advocates who can help you with options and support. You can also call me at 507-360-7864. No one should ever be assaulted or abused.
