Winter driving tips

We have been very blessed with warmer than normal temperatures and very little snowfall. This has delayed people from refreshing their winter driving skills. Here are a few tips:
(1) Don’t use your cruise control because even without snowfall roads and bridges may ice up.
(2) If your windshield has frost on it you must remove all of it before driving. It is unsafe and against the law to only clear a small section to look through.
(3) Check your tire pressure on cold days. It is normal for the cold to lower your tire pressure by 5 – 10 lbs.
(4) Driving with boots, jackets, and gloves will change the way you drive. Slow down and increase the distance between you and the car in front of you.
(5) If you break down on the road call someone. Don’t try to walk away from your vehicle. Cold temperatures can lead to frostbite and even death.
It won’t be long before we have snow and ice on the roads and the sooner you prepare the safer you will be.
