No more U-Boat gremlins in your coffee jar hereafter
The abatement of U-boat attacks on inter-American freighters has come to mean something very special to coffee drinkers: Effective July 29, no more coffee rationing!
Ask delay school opening in State
Steps to delay school openings in Minnesota two or three weeks, to September 20, have been taken by the eight-man advisory committee, made up of state and federal governmental heads, assisting Paul E. Miller, agricultural extension chief, in direction of the Emergency Farm Help program. The saving of much of the 1943 crop will depend on the amount of labor available in late August and early September. There are between 10,000 and 12,000 non-farm youth now employed in agriculture, and most of them are students.
Minneota wins League Pennant
The Minneota ball club have won the pennant for the Southwestern Minnesota League, with six wins out of seven games. Hendricks stands in second place, and the first play-off game for state tournament entry will be between Minneota and Hendricks, at Minneota, on Sunday, August 8.

Dutch Elm Disease found in Minneota
Dutch Elm disease has been positively identified on a sample taken from a boulevard American Elm at the Carl E. Anderson home at 301 N. Madison Street according to Kent Ringkob, associate county agent.
Past week’s rains
The clouds dropped about four and a half inches of rain on Minneota leaving pools of water collected in low spots in town like the one along the alley behind the Henry Borson residence.
19 boys entered in golf tourney
Nineteen boys were entered in the juvenile golf tournament which was held at Countryside Golf club here last Sunday afternoon. Bob Canton, Taunton, won the championship flight, Doug Dero, Minneota, was winner in the first flight, and Paul Geiwitz, also Minneota, took the second flight.

Joe Lanners is the owner and operator of J L Unlimited, Harley Davidson Parts and Service, located out of his home in rural Minneota. Joe Lanners is the son of Norbert and Betty Lanners of Minneota.
Making it happen in California
The week of July 10th through the 17th was an experience of a lifetime for four FLA’ers Nicki Coover, Jennifer Flood, and Sheri Tillemans and Laura Engels. Sheri Tillemans and Jennifer Flood earned Three-Star Gold Medals for their FHA Junior High Manual at the National Convention at Anaheim, California.
Minneota advances in Legion baseball tournament action
Minneota’s American Legion baseball team has come on strong as the season progressed, and now finds themselves in the District Baseball Tournament scheduled for this weekend.
