Minneota sent only five team members to the Montevideo Speech Meet on Saturday, but all five earned an award. Left to right: Joey Clark, Cora Fischer, Wyatt Pohlen, Melanie Engels and Imogen Moriarty.

Engels second in Storytelling at Montevideo speech meet

A depleted Minneota team traveled to Montevideo on Saturday, but came away with positive results.
All five Viking speakers received an award following judge's scoring.
Melanie Engels, a freshman, placed second in Storytelling. Seniors Joey Clark and Cora Fischer were third in Storytelling and Great Speeches, respectively. Wyatt Pohlen, a sophomore, finished fourth in Discussion, and seventh-grader Imogen Moriarty earned a ribbon in Poetry.
Several of the speech team members were competing with the Minneota Robotics team that was competing in the regional meet in Duluth.
Minneota will next compete on Saturday, March 11 at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, and then will compete in the Russell-Tyler-Ruthton Meet on March 18.
