Fier joins Mascot team as new office manager
That smiling face you see when you enter the Mascot to renew a subscription or place an ad belongs to LuAnn Fier, our new office manager.LuAnn recently retired as Lyon County Recorder in Marshall after nearly 17 years, but decided to work on a part-time basis in her hometown.
She began working for the Mascot on Sept. 14. Her job entails general bookkeeping duties and office work such as making bank deposits, accounts receivable, billing, invoicing and financial reports.
Many customers who have already been to the Mascot since LuAnn began have noted how well organized and friendly she is, and that she is a welcome addition to the newspaper.
"I know almost every face that walks in the door," said LuAnn. "These are my hometown people."
LuAnn grew up on a farm outside of Minneota and did the bookkeeping there.
Eventually, she spent 16 years and eight months as county recorder before retiring on Aug. 31. As county recorder, LuAnn prepared and processed various real estate documents and performed various office accounting procedures by entering financial date into a computerized database and creating all daily and monthly detailed reports for the county and state.
LuAnn has caught on quickly with her myriad of duties at the Mascot.
"Taking things one step at a time," LuAnn said. "I like it here, And it's nice to be able to work in town and visit with some of the people that come in."
LuAnn and her husband Mike have been married 47 years. Their children are: Jason, Scott and Ryan Fier; Jenna (Dirckx); and the late Neil Fier. They also have eight grandchildren.
"We will be able to spend more time with our children and grandchildren now that I am working part time," said LuAnn.
