Live music fills Opera Hall air
Nearly 100 people came to the Opera Hall in Minneota to support live music while also being entertained for two hours by Kindred Spirits and Friends on Saturday.
Kindred Spirits, featuring Emily Hoffmann providing vocals, Darwin Dyce on flute and Pete Lothringer on guitar, performed several classical songs.
"I think the walls of the Opera Hall were begging for some live music," Dyce said. "And it was nice that the people could come and see that beautiful space."
The other groups who performed were the Mad Hatters with Lee Kanten of Ortonville and Gette Jones of Watson, and As Needed with Audrey Arner and Richard Handeen of Montevideo, Glen Gelhar of Clarkfield and Carol Ford of Milan.
Those attending the event were not required to pay, but there was a suggested donation.
"I was very impressed with the generosity of people attending because that's what helps the music be a part of the community," Dyce said. "Even though we all look similar, we are still a very diverse community in terms of opinions and beliefs. Music is a universal language that can be enjoyed regardless of background."
