NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 414 (MINNEOTA PUBLIC SCHOOLS) MINNESOTA

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a special election has been called and will be held in and for Independent School District No. 414 (Minneota Public Schools), Minnesota (the "School District"), on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, for the purpose o f voting on the following questions:
SCHOOL DISTRICT BALLOT QUESTION 1 - APPROVAL OF SCHOOL DISTRICT BOND ISSUE
Shall the school board of Independent School District No. 414 (Minneota Public Schools), Minnesota be authorized to issue its general obligation bonds in an amount not to exceed $2,450,000 to provide funds for the acquisition and betterment of school sites and facilities, including the acquisition, installation, replacement and maintenance of software, computers, mobile devices, improved technology and technology systems, networks, infrastructure, and office and instructional technology?
BY VOTING "YES" ON THIS BALLOT QUESTION, YOU ARE VOTING FOR A PROPERTY TAX INCREASE.
SCHOOL DISTRICT BALLOT QUESTION 2 - REVOKING EXISTING CAPITAL PROJECT LEVY AUTHORIZATION; APPROVING NEW AUTHORIZATION
If School District Ballot Question 1 is approved, shall the school board of Independent School District No. 414 (Minneota Public Schools), Minnesota (the "School District") be authorized to revoke its existing capital project levy authorization of 8.660% times the net tax capacity of the School District and replace it with a new capital project levy authorization of 3.345% times the net tax capacity of the School District. The existing capital project levy authorization raised approximately $500,000 for taxes payable in 2022 the first year it was levied. The proposed new capital project levy authorization will raise approximately $250,000 for taxes payable in 2024, the first year it is levied, and would be authorized for eight years. The estimated total cost of the projects to be funded over that time period is approximately $2,000,000. The revenue from the proposed capital project levy authorization will provide funds for the acquisition, installation, replacement, support and maintenance of software, software licenses, computers, improved technology equipment, networks, infrastructure and the costs o f technology related personnel and training. I f Ballot Question 1 is approved, shall the revocation o f the existing capital project levy authorization and the approval o f the new capital project levy authorization proposed by the school board of lndependent School District No. 414 (Minneota Public Schools), Minnesota be approved?
BY VOTING "YES" ON THIS BALLOT QUESTION, YOU ARE VOTING FOR A PROPERTY TAX INCREASE.
Combined Polling Place: Minneota Community Center 129 E. First St., Minneota, Minnesota 56264
This combined polling place serves all territory in Independent School District No. 414 located in Alta Vista Township, Burton Township, Swede Prairie Township, City of Ghent, Island Lake Township, Nordland Township, Limestone Township, Omro Township, Eidsvoid Township, Grandview Township, Westerheim Township, City of Minneota and City of Taunton.
Any eligible voter residing in the School District may vote at said election at the polling place designated above. The polls for said election will open at 8:00 a.m. and will close at 8:00 p.m. on said election day.
A voter must be registered to vote to be eligible to vote in this election. An unregistered individual may register to vote at the polling place on election day.
