Time was running out when Canby's Ben Kamrath picked up a loose ballunder the basket, slipped it through two Viking defenders into the arms of Randy Johnson and he put it in to give Canby a 64-63 lead.

Minneota got one more shot, a corner buzzer-beater from Brett Przymus. But it fell off and Canby had the 64-63 victory.

It was Minneota's first game of the season and evened Canby's record to 1-1.

The Vikings struggled the entire game, fought back and finally took a 63-62 lead when Tony Noyes broke through for the bucket and the lead.

But it got wild at the end and Minneota couldn't hang on.

The Vikings hit just 22 of 59 shots and shot just 50 percent at the free throw line, while Canby hit 20 of 40 shots, went to the charity stripe and hit 18 of 25.

Canby's Jordan Wiesen scored 27 points, including nine of 11 from the free throw line and Chad Blackwelder scored 18 for the Lancers.

Minneota's Will Kurka collected 17 points and eight rebounds while Zac Corbin scored 14 with Shane Hennen and Noyes scoring 11 points each.

The Vikings next game is at Round Lake-Brewster at Round Lake at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
