Viking girls stun Marshall PDF Print E-mail

When it comes to wins, there's nothing like beating the larger school just down the road.

Thursday night the Minneota Viking girls defeated Marshall, 63-45 and along with it came Hwy. 68 bragging rights.

The hot hand on this night belonged to Taya Kockelman, who slammed in 27 points, including six three-pointers and five of six from the free throw line.

She also had 10 rebounds and four blocks.

And Kockelman got plenty of help. Ashlynn Muhl had 12 points and 13 rebounds; Sam Hennen scored 12 points and Kelsey Hennen directed traffic from her point guard position all night.

In addition, Kelsey Hennen had trhee assists with sister Sam adding five, with Kelsey getting three steals.

Trisa Jerzak added three points and Katelyn Kack two.

For Marshall, Rachel Westby scored 10 points and was the only Tiger in double figures.

The win gave Minneota a 12-2 record. Marshall dropped to 8-6.
