After negotiating for a couple of hours Monday night, the Minneota City Council and Sarah Friesen have agreed on terms to make her the next city administrator. There were about eight different areas where the two parties differed when negotiations began. In the end, the Minneota Council and Friesen settled on a $52,319 base salary with a potential five percent increase one year from now if she gets a favorable review.

An air of relaxation hits you when you open the door to Prairie Winds Wellness here in Minneota. Doctor Stephanie Vlaminck greeted folks on Monday, the opening day of the new business on Highway 68. “I’m really pumped,” she said with glee. It’s been a couple of fantastic weeks getting this ready and I couldn’t have done it without my family.” Vlaminck, a Doctor of Chiropractic, purchased the former Gene’s Sporting Goods store on April 26, and it has been ‘all hands to the task’ ever since. While the street project has been an eyesore out the new front windows of the place, Vlaminck was quick to note that it was also helpful.

Ghent 'dynamic duo' ready to hit the trail |

Jo Schroepfer and Amy Maertens are, literally, ready to hit the trail — the walking trail, that is. These Ghent women are walking in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk for the Cure August 20-22 in Minneapolis. The ladies have been walking daily to get in shape, for the team will be putting in days of 20 miles on this trek that raises money to fight breast cancer.
