Rain isn’t the only setback affecting the current water/sewer/street project in Minneota.
Lack of grant money payments is forcing the city council to shuffle their money in order to make financial payments.
With the fourth payment of just over $300,000 due to Northdale Construction, project contractor, the city finds itself in a precarious financial situation.
“The county and state money has come in and we’ve used that, but now we need the money from the PFA (Public Finance Authority)”, said Mayor Tony Esping.

Heavy rains cause damage to Legion
Heavy rains caused considerable damage to the Minneota American Legion Building during a recent downpour.
Insurance adjusters evaluated the damage and the The Legion has been awarded $5,000 and got another $698 for the roof damage,” said American Legion Commander Jim Fink.
There also was some water damage upstairs and panels will have to be replaced. “The windows are all fine,” said Fink during Monday’s American Legion meeting.
The Legion members voted to commence with a renovation project on both the upper and lower levels. “This will take care of the inside, but now we have to eliminate the water from the outside,” said Fink.
The city engineer has been contacted for input on the outside project.
