Three hospitalized after crash

Crash at Highways 23 and 59

NOON WEDNESDAY ....

Intersection of State Highway 23 and US Highway 59 was the site of an accident that injured three people, and sent them to the hospital.

It alsoccreated a bad traffic situation at the intersection in Marshall.

A 1995 Peterbuilt semi driven by Isidro Hernandez of Renville and a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Kristi Buysse of Marshall were involved in the crash.

The Marshall police department says both drivers an an unidentified passenger in the semi truck were taken by ambulance to Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center.

The Peterbilt semi sustaned moderate damage while the Chevy pickup had severe damage.

No other details on the accident have been made available at this time.

 
Princess Kay crown goes to Hugo farm girl

•Minneota's Brittany Moorse was one of the final 12 candidates.

Katie Miron (right), a 19-year-old college student from Hugo, was crowned the 57th Princess Kay of the Milky Way in an evening ceremony at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds August 25.

katie miron - princess kay of the milky way 2010Among the final 12 candidates for the honor was Lyon County Dairy Princess Brittany Moorse (below) of Minneota.

As Princess Kay, Miron, who represents Washington County, will serve as the official goodwill ambassador for Minnesota’s nearly 4,700 dairy farmers.

She is the daughter of Fran and Mary Ann Miron of Hugo, and attends the University of Minnesota, studying agricultural education.

This marks the second time two people from the same family have been named Princess Kay: Miron’s sister, Ann, was crowned Princess Kay in 2007.

Twelve county dairy princesses competed for the Princess Kay of the Milky Way title.

Second Street may be included in project

B & B Electric workers, Brad Laleman  and  Eric Buysse , were working on the foundation for the light pole base on Wednesday afternoon in front of the Mascot office. The condition of second street, which runs past Finnegans and the Big Store building, The Mascot and Bank of the West is in poor shape, but it was forgotten when the current water-sewer, street, curb and gutter and sidewalk project was planned.
