Two finalists for city administrator |

The list of candidates for Minneota City Administrator has been whittled to two candidates. They are: •Lyon County Assistant Administrator Aurora Heard, and; •Sara Friesen of Spirit Lake, IA and formerly of Mounds Park, MN and Mountain Lake — where she was city administrator. “We had 17 applicants and seven met the minimum requirements,” said Mayor Tony Esping. The seven persons were interviewed by Mayor Esping, Council Todd Bretschneider, Lois VanderPutte and Jack Rehkamp as a special committee of the council.

Sheriff, commissioners races contested in primary |

LyonCounty will hold a Primary Election on Tuesday, August 10 in an effort to get all positions down to two candidates. The offices that will have a primary election include: Sheriff and districts one, two and three in the county commissioner’s office. The sheriff candidates are incumbent Mark Mather, Police Officer Ron McKenzie and sheriff’s deputy Bruce Hanson.
