Mary Ann Jane Wagner was born to John and Myrtle (Osborn) Wagner on December 25, 1927, in Benson. She graduated from Appleton (Minn.) High School in 1945.
In 1946, she wed Galen Werpy in Madison, Minne-sota, where they lived for many years and where all six of their children were born. In 1969, they moved to Marshall, where they had lived since.
Mary was a member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church for 38 years. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and was an avid bridge player. Her children will long remember her insistence that, despite her own birthday being on Christmas day, the focus of the day’s festivities had to be on the kids.
Mary is survived by six children: Barbara (Gerald) Hallaway of Cottage Grove, Susan (Orlin) Bruss of Marshall, Deborah (Doug-las) Rome of Eagan, David (Melissa) Werpy of Still-water, Minn., Pamela (David) Miller of Alexan-dria, Minn., and Todd (Marcy) Werpy of Decatur, IL; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren (with another on the way). She is also survived by her sisters: Wanda (Harlowe) Hendrickson and Donna Mae Theusch.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Galen Werpy, and by her parents, John and Myrtle Wagner.
