Services for Shirley T. Holmlund, of Burnsville, Minnesota were held on December 9, at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Apple Valley, Minnesota. Pastors Paul Harrington and Bob Berndt officiated at the 1 p.m. service. Soloist was Paula Lammers with organist Mark Ertl as the accompanist. Casket bearers were Richard Bellew, Steven Fox, Brendan Bellew, Anne Bellew, Laura Bellew, Kelly Fox, and Sarah Fox. Interment was in Acacia Park Cemetery, Mendota Heights, MN.
Mrs. Holmlund, 81, died Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at her home.
Shirley Theone Mohr was born September 16, 1927 in rural Minneota to William and Hildur (Knutson) Mohr. She was baptized and confirmed at First English Lutheran Church in Canby. She graduated from Canby High School in 1945 and was homecoming queen that year.
On July 11, 1952 she was united in marriage to Paul Holmlund at the F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyoming. After returning from military service, they lived first in Minneapolis and then Brooklyn Center, Minnesota for thirty-five years. They moved to Burnsville, Minnesota in 1994 after retirement.
Shirley was currently a member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Apple Valley and was previously a member of Cross of Glory Lutheran in Brooklyn Center for thirty-five years.
Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and enjoyed gardening, traveling, reading, music, her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband Paul; daughter, Kathy (Richard) Bellew; son-in-law Steven (Jane) Fox; and five grandchildren: Brendan, Annie, and Laura Bellew and Kelly and Sarah Fox; and other relatives and friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her daughter, Julie Fox; parents, William and Hildur Mohr; and her infant sister Phyllis.
