The Minneota School District was notified on July 1 by the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) the proposal to begin school earlier through, "The Common Calendar Consortium," was denied at this time.

Supt. Dan Deitte said all the educators who worked on this proposal were puzzled as to why it failed.

"We had a good proposal, and can't find a reason why it was denied," he said.

"It took a lot of time and effort," said the superintendent. Because of the denial, theboard adopted the school calendar for nextr year, setting May 20 as Graduation Day.
