Projections on enrollment for the 2009-2010 school year look very good with two weeks to go before the doors open.
“At this point, we have eleven more students than last year coming in, and that’s a very good sign,” said Superintendent Dan Deitte at Tuesday’s School Board meeting. Included in that number are four foreign exchange students.
A good deal of time was spent talking on the budget, with the enrollment projections helping that bottom line for next year. The budget is now in the hand of the auditors, with that report to be coming in the next couple of months.
“There’s been no guarantee from the legislators,” added Deitte, concerning the shifted funds. He added, “We will be deficit spending — but it may not be as big as once was thought.” Board members appreciated the positive remarks, as they look ahead to a new school year.
