Theodore V. Fairchild was born on April 3, 1936 to Mark and Annie (Christensen) Fairchild on the family farm in Florida Township near Canby, Minnesota. He was raised near Canby and attended Canby High School. Following his education he entered the Minnesota National Guard where he served from 1953 to 1962.
On August 20, 1960 he was united in marriage to Clarice Oles at Canby. They lived and farmed west of Canby in Fortier Township. On December 13, 2001 Clarice passed away. Ted remained on the farm and passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 14, 2010 at the age of 73 years, 9 months, and 11 days.
He was a member of the Full Gospel Assembly Church in Canby. He was also a member of the Minnesota Cattlemen's Association. He had farming partnerships with his brothers for many years and they also raised minks together. Ted enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He also enjoyed working with wood, making birdhouses and toys, drawing and crossword puzzles.
Ted was preceded in death by his wife Clarice, parents; one brother, Ivan Fairchild; one sister, Evelyn Guza; and a great-grandson Levi Hansen.
He is survived by his son, George (Cindy) Potz of Porter, MN; four grandchildren: Stacie (Scott) Dohl-mann of Magnolia, MN, Travis (Tonya) Potz of Shakopee, MN, Angela Heideman Potz (special friend, Jeffrey Johnson) of Canby, MN, Karen Potz of Canby, MN; 11 great-grandchildren: Alanna, Lucas, Zachery and Hailee Dohl-mann, Sierra and Mason Potz, Ryan, Tyler, Blake and Hannah Heideman and Karter Potz; one great-great granddaughter, Cheyanne; four brothers: Daniel (Judy) Fairchild of Secor, IL, Lester (Edythe) Fairchild of Water-town, SD, Henry Fairchild of Canby, MN and Edwin (Mary) Fairchild of Canby, MN: three sisters: Pearl Mattson of Blair, WI, Nina Alfaro of Waxahachie, TX and June (Benito) Pacleb of Dumaguete, Philippines and many nieces and nephews.
