Testing time is over. It’s now put up or go home time and the Minneota Vikings Saturday took their first big step with a Camden Conference Wrestling Championship.“The team had a good day at the ConferenceTournamalexlessmanent,” said Head Coach Joel Skillings after the trophy had been hauled in.
“They all had a part in this win,” the coach added. Seven Vikings captured championships.

Other honors for our Vikings included Christian Skillings and Zach Campbell of Tracy/Milroy Balaton being named the day’s “Outstanding Wrestlers”christianarmbar.

“We are still a little dinged up,” added Skillings. Alec Engler was out with a shoulder injury,  Adam Josephson was still harboring some pain with his hip injury, and ill health captured a few of the others.
“It’s great to see the kids win,” added Skillings. “They have been working hard and it seems to be coming together at the right time.”
The entire team had a hand in this win, with seven claiming first place finishes.
“It was tremendous to have nine in the finals, and they all wrestled well. Josh VanOverbeke had a big win in the finals. He didn’t montelongopanic and kept his wits about him. Blake Abraham is another one who has improved so much,” Skillings noted.
Beau Buysse claimed his fourth Camden title, while Christian Skillings and Sam Derynck claimed their third titles, and Adam Longtin his second in the Camden.
Adam Longtin felt the team had a successful day, saying “I thought it went good. We have done a lot of wrestling this year.”
Sam Derynck also felt the team is “getting up to their potential.”
This senior leadership is helping to balance an otherwise very young team.
