wenker duaneMass of Christian Burial for Duane Wenker, 68, of Minneota, was at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 17, 2010, at St. Edward Catholic Church in Minneota.

Interment followed the service at St. Edward Catholic Cemetery in Minneota.

Duane Leo Wenker was born on September 25, 1941, in Madison, MN, to Steve and Lucy (Kockelman) Wenker.  He grew up in Madison and Minneota.

Duane was united in marriage to Linda Hasert on April 7, 1972, at St. Edward Catholic Church in Minneota.

He worked for a variety of employers including McLaughlin and Schultz, Superior Truss and most recently as a security guard at Prairie’s Edge Casino in Granite Falls.

Duane enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, playing cards and gardening.

He really enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.  Duane died unexpectedly on Thursday, May 13, 2010, as the result of complications following surgery for a blood clot.

He is survived by his wife, Linda, of Minneota, daughter Vicky (and Mike) Felcyn of Marshall, grandsons Cole and Zack, son Steve of Minneota, brother Virgil (and Phine) of Ghent, sisters Donna (and Art) Matthys of Marshall, Marie (and Don) Anderson of Ames, IA, Darlene (and Joe) Hamilton of Chiloquin, Oregon, brother-in-law Denny Swenson of Blaine, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Shirley.
