Their time in the Section 3AA playoffs was very short.

On Tuesday the Minneota-Canby Vikings lost 10-0 in five innings to No. 1-ranked Redwood Falls and were eliminated from the tournament.

The 1-16 Vikings were one-hit by Redwood Valley sophomore ace Samantha Felt, who struck out eight hitters in five innings.

Minneota-Canby didn't get a hit until Heidi Schroepfer led off the fifth with an infield single after Felt had retired 12 straight hitters.

Schroepfer started on the mound but with her team trailing 10-0, she was replaced with Amanda Grengs.

Grengs threw two innings and didn't allow a hit or run and walked one. Schroepfer was hit for seven hits in the first three innings.

Ashley Bunting had two of those and she knocked in a run. Redwood Valley also was helped along by a Minneot-Canby error during a two-run rally in the second and by five Schroepfer walks.

Redwood Valley clicked off three hits in the first inning and used a Schroepfer walk and a sacrifice to take a 3-0 lead and the Vikings never got back in the game.

"I feel bad for our seniors, Schroepfer and Callie McNeill because their careers are over," said Coach Jeff Hansen.

But the team is young and will return five seniors next year to the squad.
