Ethel Johnson was born January 7, 1928 at Minneota, MN to Bertrand and Eliza (Haugen) Olevson.
She received her education in Minneota and graduated from Minneota High School in 1945.
She worked as a telephone operator in Chicago until her marriage on June 15, 1947 at Minneota to Merlin Johnson.
They lived in Flandreau where she worked for the Register of Deeds for several years.
They wintered in Arizona for several years and traveled seeing many foreign countries.
Merlin died on November 2, 1985 and Ethel has continued to live in Flandreau becoming a resident of Riverview Manor in October 2004. Ethel was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, WELCA, and was active in the Democratic Party.
Ethel is survived by three sons: Jay (Jo Ellen), Brookings, Tom, Yankton and Monte (Lorraine), Flandreau; four grandchildren: Amanda (Brian) Knutson, Sioux Falls, Kari (Paul) Montgomery, Guymon, OK, Travis (Brenda) Johnson, Minnetonka, MN and Terry (Rhiannon) Johnson, St. Louis Park, MN; seven great-grandchildren: Axel, Samantha, Timothy, Allison, Isabelle, Emma and Jameson and two sisters-in-law: Ona Olevson, Minneota and Deloris Johnson, Flandreau.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister, Alice and one brother, Bert.
