Burial followed at the service at St. Edward Catholic Cemetery in Minneota. Military Rites will be performed by U.S. American Legion Post 199 of Minneota. Donald Dean Hoberg was born on September 17, 1930, in Lake Benton Township, to Hans and Clara (Otto) Hoberg. He grew up on the family farm near Lake Benton and graduated from Lake Benton High School. Don enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Korea from 1954 – 1956. He was very proud of his military service and was a longtime member of the American Legion. After his honorable discharge, he returned to the family farm near Lake Benton. On May 5, 1959, he was united in marriage to Jeanette Claeys at St. Edward Catholic Church. The couple farmed and raised their family on Don’s farm near Lake Benton until moving to Minneota in the winter of 1969. Don managed the fertilizer and chemical plant in Minneota until his retirement in 1992. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and the outdoors. He had a lifelong love for farming and anything to do with farming. He also enjoyed playing cards, softball and bowling, but most of all spending time with his grandchildren. Don died on Sunday, August 1, 2010, at the Hendricks Hospital.
