skillingsBonnie Skillings, 79, of Clarissa, passed away on August 12, 2010 at the Central Todd County Care Center in Clarissa.

Services for Skillings were held on Monday, August 16, 2010, 11 a.m., at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Clarissa with Pastor Melissa Ehrhardt officiating.

Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery, Clarissa.

She was born September 16, 1930 in Eagle Valley Township, Todd County to Louie & Eva (Parker) Leagjeld.  She attended school in Long Prairie and Brainerd, receiving her GED in 1980.  Bonnie worked at the Do Drop Inn as a cook and waitress, she worked at St. John’s Hospital in Browerville and the Central Todd County Care Center and then received her dietician certification.
Bonnie will be remembered for her wonderful donuts, bread and baked goods.  She was an excellent cook.  She was a member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary, taught Sunday School for many years and cut hair for all the neighbors.  Bonnie’s door was always open for the neighbor kids.
Bonnie is survived by her husband Alvin of Clarissa, children:  Russell (Leslyn) Skillings of Conrad, Kathleen (Kenneth) Drevlow of Clarissa, Steve (Becky) Skillings of Mora, Paul (Gwen) Skillings of Wadena, Joel (Jackie) Skillings of Minneota; siblings:  Hollis (Shirley) Leagjeld of Winnebago, Ted (Sue) Leagjeld of Pequot Lakes, Louis (JoAnne) Leagjeld of St. Peter, Phyllis (Carlton) Upguard of Tacoma, WA, Karen Ward of Clarissa, Gary (Dianne) Leagjeld of Long Prairie, David (Carol) Leagjeld of Long Prairie, Diane (Gary) Zastrow of Long Prairie, sister in law Bertha Leagjeld of Long Prairie; 14 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents, brother Glen Leagjeld, sister Oma Heubach, sister Shirley Pederson, and brother Donny Leagjeld.
