Consider Russell-Tyler-Ruthton's fate.

They played the No. 1 team in Class A on Thursday night and lost 3-0 to the Minneota Vikings.

Now, they open the Marshall Tournament against Hutchinson, the No. 1 team in Class AA.

Minneota methodically took the three games, 25-10; 25-14 and 25-12 to run its record to 3-0 on the year and 2-0 in the Camden Conference.

The Vikings also will enter the Marshall Tournament this weekend.

The Viking spread the wealth against RTR with Ashlynn Muhl and Jenna Hennen each getting 10 kills with Sara Maeyaert and Haylee Davis adding four each.

"We served so much better," said Coach Steph Hennen, referring to the previous 80-percent serving night against Kerkhoven.

Kelsey Hennen, who let the team with 11 digs, was 16 of 18 at the serving line and eight of those points landed without being returned for eight aces.

Jenna Hennen was 12 of 13 with two aces; Katelyn Kack landed 11 of 13 with two aces and Davis was 10-11 with two aces from the serving line.

"It's nice when you spread things out like that," said Coach Hennen.

Muhl added three blocks, Maeyaert two and setter Taya Kockelman had one, with 8-9 serving with two aces, 29 sets and three digs.

"The difference tonight is that the communication was better," Coach Hennen added.
