Haylee Davis bumps the ball for Minneota.

Minneota won it's first two games of the Molten Southwest Minnesota Challenge in Marshall on Friday.

They defeated Fergus Falls 2-0:  25-19, 25-11; Minneota then swept Waconia 26-24, 28-26.

After making quick work of Fergus Falls, the Vikings (5-0) gutted out a tough victory over Waconia, the fourth-ranked team in Class AAA. Minneota trailed 13-7 at one point in the second set, but got back into the game with help from its defense.

"It was a really tough game but we came back and won it," said Minneota junior Kelsey Hennen.

Minneota will face Class AAA No. 1-ranked Lakeville North today.

"They were ahead but we were able to stay together and come back," said Hennen.

Jenna Hennen went 12-for-13 serving with three aces in the Vikings' win over Fergus Falls. Taya Kockelman added 14 set assists.

Katelyn Kack was 12-of-12 serving with one ace in Minneota's victory over Waconia. Haylee Davis and Ashlynn Muhl each had seven kills.
