GHENT, MN—At approximately 9 a.m. on Thursday morning, the village of Ghent officially declared a state of emergency. Flooding occurred around a majority of the perimeter of the city, over the bike trail as well in several homes.
"Right now we're working on getting the sandbags dispersed to the homes that have requested then and also have at the lift stations, said Village Administrator/Clerk Dawn Vlaminck.

One of the residences on the south side of town was being threatened by water as sandbaggers went to work.
