The Minneota Vikings won the Camden Conference title outright Thursday night with a 3-0 victory at Cottonwood.

They defeated Lakeview, 25-10; 25-6 and 25-16.

Minneota finished the Camden Conference with a 10-0 record. Canby finished second at 9-1.

The Vikings take their 20-2 season record into Apple Valley at 6:15 p.m. today. They will compete in a 16-team tournament that runs through Saturday.

In addition to host Apple Valley, a traditional power, schools such as Mounds View, Wabasha-Kellogg, Rosemount; Minneapolis Southwest and Owatonna are also in the tournament.

The Vikings go against Burnsville in the first round.

The victory also pits the Vikings (South) against MACCRAY (North) in the conference North/South Conference showdown Monday, October 18. MACCRAY finished 7-3 in the conference.

Thursday Minneota got strong hitting from Ashlyn Muhl, who had 14 kills. Jenna Hennen also stepped up to the net with eight kills while Taya Kockelman, the Viking setter, and Rachel Cheadle had six each.

Katelyn Kack knocked down 16 of 17 kills while Kelsey Hennen was 8-8.

Kelsey Hennen came up big in the backcourt with 16 digs while Jenna Hennen added 15.

In addition to her kills, Muhl added five blocks to the Viking effort.
