Joseph H. Moorse, 89, of Great Falls, a decorated Army veteran and longtime Fort Benton community leader, died of natural causes recently at Peace Hospice, Great Falls, Montana
He was buried with military honors in Riverside Cemetery.
Joe was born May 4, 1920, to Harry and Lucy Moorse in Minneota, where he attended country school through eighth grade in Rural District 77, and graduated from Minneota High School in 1938.
Joe started working in banking at the Farmers & Merchants State Bank in Minneota in 1940, after working one year for Land of Lakes Creamery.

His banking career was interrupted by World War II. During World War II, Moorse served in the European Theater in the medics with the 3rd Armored Division, 83rd Armored Reconnaissance.

He landed at Omaha Beach on D-Day +3, and was involved in the Battle of the Bulge.

arlonkompelienServices for Arlon D. Kompelien, 84, of Bloom-ington, MN were held on Saturday, January 10, at Emmaus Lutheran Church. Interment was in Ft. Snelling.
Arlon was born April 4, 1925 on a farm near Minneota. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Submarine service. He loved flying his own airplane.
Arlon worked for Honeywell as an electrical engineer for over 36 years, where he was granted many patents and awards and was a Fellow Engineer.
Arlon had a deep abiding faith and was a man of integrity.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lois; children and their spouses: Greg (Hazanne), Dale (Debra), Judy (Timothy Yantos) Wise Yantos and Ron (Jane); 7 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Hildegard; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Esther Kompelien; brother Donald; and son-in-law James Wise.
He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend.

mariecoquytMass of Christian Burial for Marie Coquyt, 76, of Minneota, was  at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 29, 2010, at St. Edward Catholic Church in Minneota.  
She died in the Minneota Manor Nursing Home January 26, 2010.
Burial was after the service at St. Edward Catholic Cemetery in Minneota.
Marie Dobias was born June 9, 1933 in Milroy, MN. Her parents were Vencil and Frances (Brey) Dobias.  Marie graduated from Milroy High School and for two years she attended St Benedicts College.

tedfairchildTheodore V. Fairchild was born on April 3, 1936 to Mark and Annie (Christensen) Fairchild on the family farm in Florida Township near Canby, Minnesota. He was raised near Canby and attended Canby High School. Following his education he entered the Minnesota National Guard where he served from 1953 to 1962.
On August 20, 1960 he was united in marriage to Clarice Oles at Canby. They lived and farmed west of Canby in Fortier Township. On December 13, 2001 Clarice passed away. Ted remained on the farm and passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 14, 2010 at the age of 73 years, 9 months, and 11 days.
He was a member of the Full Gospel Assembly Church in Canby. He was also a member of the Minnesota Cattlemen's Association. He had farming partnerships with his brothers for many years and they also raised minks together. Ted enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He also enjoyed working with wood, making birdhouses and toys, drawing and crossword puzzles.

sumerfeltMass of Christian Burial for Lawrence Sumerfelt, 87, of rural Taunton, was on Saturday, January 16 at St. Edward Catholic Church in Minneota.

Interment was at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Cemetery in Taunton.

Lawrence John Sumerfelt was born on April 8, 1922, in Kittson County, Minnesota to Alexander and Domecila (Kielb) Sumerfelt.  He moved with his family to the Taunton area when he was a baby.  On November 14, 1945, he was united in marriage to Barbara Bernardy at St. Edward Catholic Church in Minneota.
