Funeral services for Galen Westdal of Glenwood, formerly of westdalgalenStarbuck and Hancock will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 7, 2010  at Fron Lutheran Church in Starbuck. Reverend Sarah Taylor will be officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Burial will be at Hope Lutheran Cemetery in Minneota, Minnesota.

Galen Bjorgvin Westdal, son of Bjorgvin and Alice (Furgeson) Westdal, was born October 12, 1942 in Slayton, Minnesota, where he grew up and was baptized on December 14, 1942 at Slayton Lutheran Church by Reverend H. E. Everson.

Victoria "Torrie" Hennen PDF Print E-mail

hennentorrieMass of Christian Burial for Victoria “Torrie” Hennen, 93, of Marshall, formerly of Ghent, was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 4, at St. Eloi Catholic Church in Ghent. 
Interment followed the service at St. Eloi Catholic Cemetery in Ghent.
Victoria Hennen was born on February 18, 1916, in Marion, North Dakota, to Ernest and Louise (Beernaert) Loyson.
She moved with her family to Ghent, MN, in 1923.  She married Vincent Hennen in Ghent on December 27, 1939.  They lived on a farm by Ghent until 1975 when they moved to Minneota, MN.  In 1996, she moved to Hill Street Place in Marshall.  
In 2003, she moved to the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center.  Torrie died on December 31, 2009, at the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center.  
She was a member of St. Eloi parish and St. Ann’s Altar Society, serving as president for one year.  Torrie was also a member of the Ghent American Legion Auxiliary and the Grandview Township Extension Club.

Mass of Christian Burial for Albert Boogaard, 94, of  Ironwood, Mialbertboogaardchigan, formerly of  Minneota, were held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 4, 2010 at St. Edward Catholic Church in Minneota.
Interment was at the service at St. Edward Catholic Cemetery in Minneota.
Albert Peter Boogaard was born Sept. 19, 1915, in Browns Valley, MN, son of the late George and Johanna (Ruys) Boogaard, and moved with his family to Butler, MN. in 1928, where he grew up.  As a young man, Albert worked in Civilian Conservation Corps camps, later moved to Minneota, where he worked for Dr. Kerr, a well known veterinarian, in his chicken hatchery.

Mass of Christian Burial for Regina Kellen, 97, of Minneota, formerly of Cottonwood, will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 28, 2009 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cottonwood.

Visitation will be one hour prior to service at church.

Interment will follow service at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Cottonwood.

Regina died on Monday, December 21, 2009 at Sanford Health – Canby.


Originally the service was set for Saturday, December 26, but it will now be Monday December 28.

Paul Larson PDF Print E-mail

Paul Eugene Larson was born July 17, 1950 in Crookston,paullarsonobit MN to Ralph and Borghild (Hermo) Larson. 
He attended school in Bagley, MN and Argyle, MN.  In 1966, his father accepted a position as the school superintendent in Minneota. 
Paul excelled in academics and athletics while attending both Argyle and Minneota high schools. 
He was involved in football, basketball, baseball, and track, as well as choir, band, and student council.  While working as a newspaper carrier in Argyle, he was awarded a scholarship through the Minneapolis Tribune’s and Minneapolis Star’s International Scholarship Program. 
As the son of a school administrator, Paul dedicated himself to setting an example for other members of the student body.  
Paul achieved the honor of being Salutatorian for the Minneota High School Class of 1968 and received numerous acceptance letters from several distinguished universities.
