After 15 months in Minneota, I stood on the sidelines at the football game at Dawson Friday night, stunned.
Not so much because we lost to the Blackjacks, but because I suddenly realized, “I’d never done this before.”
Through the first 20 Minneota games I’ve covered, this is the only time they’ve lost.
When I mentioned this fact to a friend the next day, he said, “Well, I’ve seen plenty of Minneota losses (through the years).”

That all changed a few weeks ago when an opportunity arose that I just couldn’t ignore.
A friend asked if I would be interested in taking a two-week trip to Europe, and my immediate reaction was “no, I can’t do that”. I had many reasons: my husband would be alone while I was gone, I would be missed at work, and, I don’t know, just lots of silly reasons.

Do you ever have those nights when you just can’t sleep? What do you do about them?
I awoke the other night and felt like I’d had a full night’s sleep. Yet, it was only 2:20 a.m. and there was plenty of “night” ahead of me. What to do?
Maybe it would have been better to just shut my eyes and pretend for a minute, and perhaps sleep would have taken over. But that’s really not me.
Instead, I got up, wandered around in the dark and finally sat down at my computer and sent off some needed e-mails.
