The Boxelder Bug Days weekend is now a blur in a lot of folks’ memory. Let’s just hope it is a happy one for most.
This writer/photographer had a great time trying to capture the essence of our festival, while visiting with family and friends who had come back to Minneota to celebrate.
We had our work cut out for us when we headed back to the office late Sunday afternoon. Byron and I had captured over 1,000 photos from the weekend event and it took a bit of time to pick and choose over the best of the lot.

After what seems like weeks of nothing but clouds, wind and rain, gaylevanvoorenMother Nature smiled on Minneota and produced two fantastic days for our Boxelder Bug Days celebration.
One roadblock in the festivities was the delay in road construction on Highway 68. But the pavement of Jefferson Street on Wednesday more than made up for the delays that the weather created.
The Bug Days committee was moving sites yet on Saturday morning, and it was anything but fun. But, when the dust had settled, everything turned out just GREAT!
Moving the celebration to the alleys behind our businesses downtown was a risky venture, but it was actually a good thing. Many people agreed that the festival was more ‘centrally located’ so that folks could take in more of the events without having to watch the time so closely.

Oh how Mayor Paul Larson loved Boxelder Bug Days.
He’s gone — but his memory lived on last weekend during the annual celebration.
His family was named Grand Marshals of the Boxelder Bug Parade and Saturday night Chairman Scott Josephson paid homage to the man who loved Bug Days.
“Mom can’t speak right now,” said Jesse Larson as his mom looked out. They were given an award by the Bug Committee, in honor of Paul.

But it’s time for Boxelder Bug Days, right?
Now what?
How about Plan B?!?!?
And that is ....
Undaunted, but looking a little frenzied, Bug Days Chairman Scott Josephson has spent hours checking with the city crew, street and sewer construction folks and his own committee.
