Gotcha! PDF Print E-mail
gotchaSports takes a different turn in August of each year. The summer baseball-softball routine is suddenly shattered by ropes flying through the air and calves trying desperately to get away. This calf roper was bearing down hard on his calf as part of the Barnes Rodeo at the Lyon County Fair last week. The rodeo is an annual event at the county fair. The rodeo runs two days during the fair ad is a big attraction for fair goers and the general rodeo population.  Staff Photo by Byron Higgin.

ON THE BENCHbyronhiggin

By Byron Higgin, Mascot Sports

Barry Meyer, Minneota Mudhen player, softball player and Lincoln HI football coach, played softball last weekend at Belgian American Days in Ghent.
No surprise there.
But Barry told me some startling things about the football program of which he is the head coach.
Meyer is the ONLY coach on the Lincoln HI squad, composed of Ivanhoe and Hendricks players. He has NO assistants. Budget cuts and the like have forced him to “go it alone.”
