Minneota’s surprising Junior American Legion season continued last week with a 9-7 win over Dawson — pushing the team’s South Central District record to 8-0 on the year.
One by one, nine veterans filed into the chilly American Legion building on Friday morning.
The Minneota Jr. Legion lost at Hutchinson last Friday, 10-0. “We played really good until the fifth and sixth innings when the wheels came off,” said Coach J.D. Pesch.
The Minneota Jr. Legion Vulcans spotted Madison a 5-1 lead in the third inning, rallied to tie it 5-5, rallied again to tie it 6-6 in the seventh, and won it in the eighth, 7-6.
Minneota’s American Legion team is undergoing change.
“This is a team that took third in the state last year,” said Coach J.D. Pesch.
Minneota’s Senior American Legion 5-3 season-opening win over Canby was a nice beginning, in several ways.
Members of the Porter American Legion came to the Minneota Manor to help the residents play Bingo recently. No names were available.
Gary Buysse and Jim Fink of the Minneota American Legion recently received their 50 years of service awards from the Minnesota State American Legion.
