Pay attention on road

One of the most dangerous daily activities that we do is driving or riding in a motor vehicle. Minnesota has had a total of 7,944 reported crashes year to date. Keep in mind that these are only the “reported” crashes. I imagine the number of all crashes (reported and not reported) would be closers to 10,000.
Of the 7,944 reported crashes 1,642 of them involved injuries with a total of 2,225 people injured. To put this in perspective, the number of injured is greater than the population of Minneota and we are only 44 days into the new year. In addition, 21 of the crashes involved a death with a total of 23 people dying.
I am sharing this with you because many of us take driving for granted and don’t give it the respect and attention it deserves. Spring is just around the corner and whenever we have a sunny day there will be more cars on the road at higher speeds. Drivers need to slow down, turn off their phones and pay greater attention.
In 2022, 410 people died in motor vehicle crashes. Don’t be part of the 2023 death total. Take driving seriously.
