Maertens buys interest
in electrical firm here
Henry Maertens of Ghent has bought the interest of Bjorn Holm in the firm of Hanson and Holm, electricians here, and will be associated with that business here in the future. Mr. Maertens is an enterprising young man, and no doubt will do well in the electrical business. Mr. Hanson, the senior member of the firm, is an experienced workman and efficient electrician. Mr. Holm says he has not yet determined what he will do, but he will probably not follow the electrical trade.

Lerwick letter says
he'll be home soon
A letter from L.M. Lerwick informs us that he has left his winter quarters in Florida. Lerwick, like the birds, is gradually making his way northward as the spring sun warms the atmosphere. He will soon be in Minneota, we reckon, and the boys will be glad to see him once more. We are certain that he will have some "tall" lutefisk stories to tell when he comes back.

Donations and pledges for the erection of a hospital here totaled $5,000 during the past week, raising the total to $50,000. H.J. Tillemans said that the drive for funds in the various surrounding townships was progressing satisfactorily in spite of poor road conditions, which in some sections had slowed down the campaign.

Collection of garbage will start in Minneota for the first time on Saturday. The City Council warns residents and businesses that all garbage must be wrapped and placed in cans in a convenient place for the pick-up. If the garbage is not cared for in this matter, it will not be picked up, the council said.

Minneota Police Chief Alphonse DePestel was on hand to watch city workmen put up two courtesy traffic tickets boxes in front of the Municipal Building on First Street Monday afternoon. These boxes were put up for the convenience of motorists caught wrongly parking and the charges levied the illegalities may be placed in envelopes on which the charges and costs are printed. Agnes Nomeland, clerk treasurer of the village, said local motorists are cooperating very well with the crackdown on illegal parking.
