Summer Reading Program begins June 1

Hey, Kids! It’s been a busy time, preparing for the Summer Reading Program at Minneota Public Library, and we have a lot of exciting things planned for this year’s theme: “Read Beyond the Beaten Path.”
Getting out and being active, along with reading, will be encouraged. We will draw for prizes at the end of the summer, so you will want to read as much as you can to become eligible. Activities to explore the out-of-doors will also be offered weekly and when completed, will also earn an entry for the prize drawings. In addition, we will have a weekly drawing, held every Wednesday after Story Hour, for a coupon good for an ice cream treat at AgPlus.
Any time you enter the library, you may sign up for the weekly drawing. I’d like to share some of the details of the Summer Reading Program, which is open to readers aged preschool to 16. Sign-up begins June 1. When you sign up for the Summer Reading Program, you will choose a reading log and receive a bag of fun stuff. Everyone who signs up between June 1 and June 8 is eligible to win some books. Winners’ names will be drawn on June 8 after the Toby Kid show. Weekly Story Hour is every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. starting June 1 and running all of June and July. We will have guest readers throughout the summer who will read a book and maybe do a craft with us. Story Hour will be held in the library.
Toby Kid, entertainer, will visit June 8. Instead of Story Hour in the library, we will meet upstairs in the Opera Hall and see “Be A Bookaneer,” a library pirate adventure show. We look forward to helping you reach your reading goals for this summer! Let’s have some fun!
