Vikings top Lakeview in 8 innings

Lacek hit by a pitch with bases loaded for winning run

Jackson Lacek was crowned Minneota's King earlier in the day for its Spring Fling event, then was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the eighth inning to force home the winning run in a 6-5 victory over Russell-Tyler-Ruthton on Monday at K.P. Kompelien Field.
The Vikings loaded the bases on a single by Brody Larson and consecutive walks to Parker Bradley and Peyton Gillund before Lacek was hit.
It was the third straight win for the Vikings (5-1).
Gillund pitched four innings of hitless relief for the win. The right-hander did not walk a batter and struck out four. Peyton Sheik started on the hill and pitched the first four innings.
The Vikings trailed 4-0 before scoring three times in the last of the fourth inning.
Trailing 5-3 in the bottom of the seventh, Minneota rallied to send the game into extra innings. Lacek led off with a walk, stole second, advanced to third on a fly out, and scored on a single by Peyton Sheik, who scored on a two-out triple by Ryan Meagher.
Ryan Dalager and Brody Larson had two hits apiece for the Vikings. Larson also knocked in two runs. Gillund, Lacek, Peyton Sheik and Ryan Meagher drove in one run each.

Dalager, Peyton lift Vikings
Ryan Dalager spun a five-hitter and Peyton Gillund clubbed a three-run homer as Minneota upended Russell-Tyler-Ruthton 5-1 on Friday in Tyler.
Dalager, a junior right-hander, walked two and struck out 10 in going the distance. The run scored off him was unearned.
Gillund’s home run in the top of the second inning broke a 1-1 tie and gave the Vikings (4-1) the win.
Gillund had two of Minneota’s six hits. Dalager, Isaac Pohlen, Eli Gruenes and Brody Larson had the other hits.
Cody Wichmann suffered the loss, allowing jus two earned runs while walking one and fanning nine.

Larson 1-hits Ortonville
Brody Larson tossed a one-hitter and struck out six as Minneota topped Ortonville 16-0 last Thursday in Ortonville.
The Vikings (3-1), who finished with 12 hits before invoking the 10-run rule after five innings, broke loose for seven runs in the first inning and eight more in the second inning.
Peyton Gillund had two hits and drove in three runs from the leadoff position. Larson, Isaac Pohlen and Ryan Dalager also had two hits apiece. Larson drove in two runs.
Jackson Lacek, Peyton Sheik, Eli Gruenes and Parker Bradley had one hit each. Gruenes also drove in two runs.
The Vikings played flawlessly in the field, while Ortonville committed six errors.

Vikings fall to KMS
The Fighting Saints scored four times in the top of the fifth inning to break out of a 2-2 tie and went on to defeat the Vikings 7-3 at K.P. Kompelien Field on Tuesday, April 25.
KMS outhit the Vikings 11-5.
Brody Larson had two hits for Minneota. Peyton Gillund, Jackson Lacek and Isaac Pohlen had the other hits for the Vikings.
Jared Cortez hurled the first four innings for KMS to record the win. He gave up three hits and two runs, while walking one and striking out six. Chase Magaard pitched two innings of relief, and Jaiden Henjum finished up with a hitless seventh, striking out two.
Peyton Sheik started on the mound for the Vikings, pitching four innings and absorbing the loss by allowing seven hits and four runs. Gillund, the third Minneota pitcher, worked the final pitched the final 2 2/3 innings and was touched for three hits and one run.
