DAR award given to Laura Knutson
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution promotes a Good Citizens Program and scholarship each year.
This year the local DAR Chapter, Captain Comfort Starr, sent out information to surrounding schools and a student is chosen by a school counselor for the scholarship.
This year Laura Knutson won the award and it was presented by Glenda Fink.
The winner must have the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism and has two hours in one sitting without assistance or reference material to write an essay on the topic, “Our American Heritage and Our Responsibility for Preserving it.” Knutson is a senior at Minneota and received a certificate, a good citizen pin and monetary scholarship.
Fink is the Regent of Captain Comfort Starr Chapter.
