PreKindergartener Henry Buysse has shown Viking Valor throughout the entire year. He ALWAYS comes to school with a smile on his face and a great attitude, tries his hardest, no matter how hard something is, never gives up and is a great friend. He invites others to play with him, is always kind, and stands up for himself and his friends! Congratulations, Henry Buysse! Keep up the great work!

The Kindergarten teachers have nominated Avery Knutson as a Viking Valor student because she works hard to meet the High Expectations of Viking Valor in and out of the classroom. She is frequently found showing empathy for his or her classmates if they are feeling down. Avery has a contagious smile and makes her peers giggle. This student works hard in the classroom to become proficient at the “I can” statements we are working on daily. Congratulations to Avery Knutson. Keep on working hard and persevere every day!

First Grader Derek Fier is always trying hardest in school. He is a thoughtful student who always greets others with a friendly smile. Derek is a good friend to other students, gets his class work done, and is always willing to lend a helping hand. He comes to school ready to learn each day and meets high expectations by always willing to go the extra mile to help a classmate and teacher and always has a positive attitude. He treats everyone around him with respect. He is a wonderful role model for other students. Congratulations, Derek Fier!

The second grade teachers nominated Devan Monnet, whose quiet demeanor compliments the areas of Honor, Respect, and High Expectations. HONOR—Devan has kind manners with everyone they meet — peers and adults alike. Please and thank you are heard throughout the day. RESPECT-Devan shows respect to those around by using an appropriate voice level, keeping personal space, and keeping her belongings organized. HIGH EXPECTATIONS- Listening carefully to directions, contributing to class discussions when asked, and quietly helping students without seeking recognition are all qualities this student displays daily. Congratulations to our Student of the Month … Devan Monnet.

The third grade teachers nominate Gretta Buysse a student who comes to school with a positive attitude every day. Gretta does her best to put a smile on the faces of everyone around her through her big smile and excitement for learning. She does not complain about assignments and tries her best each and every day no matter the task. When others are struggling, Gretta is always willing to lend a helping hand to ensure that all her classmates understand. This student also shows honor by always cleaning up after herself after each task and even helps clean up after others. Keep up the fantastic work, Gretta Buysse!!

Fourth Grader Alex Wersal always has a smile on her face and a positive attitude each day she comes to school. She is someone who shows respect to others by showing kindness and helping others when they need it. She also shows honor each day by helping to pick up around the classroom and doing what is asked of her with high expectations by trying her best in all subjects especially when the material may be challenging. She is also a good role model in the classroom. Keep up the excellent work, Alex Wersal!

Fifth Grader Lydia Coequyt exceeds expectations daily. She goes out of her way each and every day to make sure her classmates are feeling included and she has done things like making bookmarks for classmates reminding them that they can meet their AR goal. She also reminds them about the importance of reading. She’s made “feel good notes” in a jar to help students who may be having a rough day. There is never a minute where she isn’t thinking of those around her. On top of that, she is a very hard worker and always does her best work for all the teachers. Thanks for being a GREAT student and friend, Lydia Coequyt!

The 6th grade teachers nominate Mariah Buysse, a student who shows Viking Valor each day in and out of the classroom. Mariah will go out of her way to help others.
