Marshall-Lyon County library offers streaming video service

Kanopy, an on-demand streaming film service, provides access to more than 30,000 films

The Marshall-Lyon County Library (MLCL) announces a new addition to its Digital Library offerings. Kanopy is an on-demand streaming film service that showcases more than 30,000 of the world’s best films, including award-winning documentaries, rare and hard-to-find titles, film festival favorites, indie and classic films, and world cinema with collections from Kino Lorber, Music Box Films, Samuel Goldwyn, The Orchard, The Great Courses, PBS and thousands of independent filmmakers.

“We are excited to grow our Digital Library collection.

Kanopy allows us to add a more diverse viewing experience, which complements our popular DVD collection and movies that can be streamed on Hoopla,” said Director Michele Leininger.

All Lyon County Library card holders can sign up to start streaming films instantly by visiting https://marshalllyon.kanopy.com.

Films can be streamed from any computer, television, mobile device or platform by downloading the Kanopy app for iOS, Android, AppleTV, Chromecast or Roku. Kanopy joins OverDrive, RBDigital, Hoopla and E-Books Minnesota in MLCL’s Digital Library, all of which are free to anyone living in Lyon County.

A library card is required to register and use the Digital Library’s collections. Library staff at the Marshall-Lyon County Library, Balaton Community Library, Cottonwood Community Library, Minneota Public Library or Tracy Public Library can answer questions or help people get started.
