Memorial Day will include speakers and dedication

Minneota’s Memorial Day Celebration this year will include the dedication of the new Veteran’s Park. The event will be held at 8:15 p.m. Monday, May 28 starting at the American Legion Building.

Col. Scott St. Sauver will be the guest speaker. He’s former Garrison Commander of Camp Ripley located in Little Falls and Commander of the Training Support Unit that’s responsible for the day-to-day operations of the 53,000 acre State of Minnesota-owned training facility.

The service will move to Veteran’s Park on Main Street, where the newly-decorated facility will be dedicated and the Light the Lights ceremony will be held. Special lighting will come at dusk.

IN TAUNTON, the Memorial Day Program will be held at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 28 at the Taunton Senior Center. The guest speaker will be Rob Hopper of Hendricks.

He’s part of the South Dakota Senior National Guard. There will be special readings by Noel Swedzinski and Mariah Hennen, music by The Swedes, and a tribute to all veterans.

The invocation will be done by Deacon Bruce Bot. There will also be a reading of all the names of deceased veterans. The service will resume at the Taunton Cemetery.

A community brunch will be held following the ceremony at the Taunton Senior Center. Everyone is invited to attend and also come to the community brunch.
