Prairie Home Hospice’s “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” Campaign

Prairie Home Hospice & Community Care has once again joined local sponsors to host the Tough Enough to Wear Pink Campaign to raise awareness around cancer in our community. Hopefully, with continued efforts in awareness, education, and research we will reach a day when more and more individuals diagnosed with cancer become survivors.
Thanks to largely stable incidence rates, improved treatment, and earlier detection, a woman’s risk of dying of breast cancer dropped 39 percent between the late 1980s and 2015. Despite that progress, breast cancer is still the 2nd leading cause of cancer death in women.
•Every two minutes, a woman in the U.S. is diagnosed with Breast Cancer.
•1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer.
•An estimated 2,470 men will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer.
Mammograms don’t prevent breast cancer, but they can save lives by detecting it earlier. All women over 40 should get a mammogram and breast exam done annually. Women at increased risk should talk to their doctors about starting mammography screenings, having additional testing or frequent exams.
Prairie Home Hospice & Community Care is now selling Tough Enough to Wear Pink T-Shirts to raise money and awareness for local cancer patients. All the money stays in the community. We hope you will come out and see us at one of the area parades, at the Lyon County PRCA Rodeo, or will stop by the office to pick up your shirt today. We are also looking to partner with area businesses to purchase T-shirts and feature them on our social media and website. If you need us to deliver shirts or have any questions, please reach out to Mariah Zeug @ 507-337-0080 or mariah.zeug@prairiehomehospice.org.
