St. Edward School Happenings

Ms. Elizabeth Miller

In Third and Fourth Grade Religion: We are starting to learn about our prayer for the year, the Apostles’ Creed. In this prayer, we profess our belief in God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, and the core teachings of the Catholic Church.

In Fifth Grade Religion: We are continuing our study of the Gospels as we read together the daily Gospel Reading, learning and discussing the different teachings of Jesus.

In Third and Fourth Grade Science: We are just beginning our study of the plant and animal life cycles. Hopefully, we will have gotten rid of this snow when we start to study our class plants!

Third and Fourth Grade: On Tuesday, March 13, we made our last trip to the Minneota Manor, where we helped the residents play BINGO. We had fun playing with them, and we made Ms. Miller very proud by showing kindness and generosity towards the residents!

Third Grade Reading: We are starting our book study of “The Kid Who Changed the World,” where we learn about the butterfly effect and how every one of our actions — from little to big — can make a big difference and could even change the world!

Mrs. Mary Ann Horner

The Seventh and Eighth grade classes are each reading a group novel. The Seventh grade is reading Tuck Everlasting and the Eighth grade is reading The Giver. While reading these novels the students will be working with the following literature based standards: citing textual evidence, determining the theme of the text, figurative and connotative meanings of words, and comparing the novel to the movie version to see how close the movie stayed true to the novel.

Ms. Claren Novotny

Seventh and eighth are learning about the Middle East (geography, religions, and conflict).
