St. Edward School Happenings

Mrs. Jan Bot - Library
Mrs. Bot has been reading some “scary” Halloween themed books for storytime. Students particularly enjoyed “Creepy Carrots” by Aaron Reynolds. Students were able to take home a paper carrot and turn it into their very own creepy carrot. Older students are finishing up books for their AR points as we near the end of the first quarter. Our “wish list” for books students request is growing! Now, if we had more room for all those books.
Mrs. Margarit Rabaey - Spanish
In Kindergarten and First Grade, we have been studying colors. In Second and Third Grade, we learned about commands and other common expressions. In Fourth through Sixth Grade, we studied numbers and rooms in a house. In Eighth grade, we have been studying verbs and how to create sentences. Last week we studied traditions surrounding Dia de los Muertos.
Science
We have been busy doing STEM projects in science class. First and Second graders made spider webs from pipe cleaners and yarn. Third and Fourth graders made “bone bridges” from Q-tips and pipe cleaners. The Seventh and Eighth graders made buildings from marshmallows and toothpicks and these buildings had to withstand “earthquakes."
