44 set to graduate on Saturday
Forty-four Minneota High School seniors are set to graduate at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 21 in the main (Viking) gymnasium.
The ceremony was originally scheduled to be held outdoors again, but due to a saturated field left behind by the recent heavy rains and expected cool and windy weather conditions, the school decided to hold it indoors.
Mary Noyes, a former Language Arts instructor here, will be the keynote speaker this year. The theme for her speech is, "Find your true colors."
The commencement exercises will include the traditional speeches from this year's valedictorian and salutatorian.
Honor students with grade-point-averages of 3.50 and above will don gold cords. The programs handed out at the graduation ceremony will list those students with honors (3.50-3.66) and distinctive honors (3.67-4.0). These students will be recognized during the ceremony.
"We will have a new form of reminiscing this year due to having the ceremony planned at the football field," said senior advisor Jessica Rosa. "A QR code will be printed on the graduation programs for family and friends to view while they wait for the ceremony to start, or more likely, when they are at home.” “This will be a keepsake for students and families alike filled with a slideshow of the Class of 2022’s favorite memories together. It could be used in the future for their reunions as everyone will have easy access to it, as long as they save their program.”
In the middle of the ceremony, the high school band will be performing from, "The Incredibles (Main Theme)," under the direction of John Voit.
This year's class color is lavender. The class song is, "My Wish" by Rascal Flatts. The class motto is "Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That is why it is called the present." - Eleanor Roosevelt.
