Bloodmobile gets near its goal

The Minneota Blood Drive took place Wednesday, at the American Legion found 40 presenting, three deferrals, and no incompletes for a total of 41 pints collected (29 whole blood and six power red cells).
“We missed our goal of 46 by only five pints.  Janelle Verschelde was awarded a two gallon pin,” said Barb Okrina, community blood drive coordinator.
“We would like to thank the State Bank of Taunton for sponsoring the blood drive by paying for the meals for the Red Cross workers and volunteers and donating the napkins. Thank you to the American Legion for donating the site and to St. Edward’s Catholic  Church providing the cookies, crackers and cheese for the donors,” she said.
“Also a special thank you to Becky Engels, Judy Traen, Susan Askdahl, Terry Van Keulen, Brenda Verschelde, Kathy Wyffels and Marcia Vlaminck for volunteering as greeters and in the canteen area.”
“Thanks go out to the Minneota Rotary members for calling the blood donors and to Maryann Sarazyn for distributing the blood drive posters,” added Okrina.
The next blood drive will be in Minneota at the High School on April 5.
