Local singer Kayla Daniels, who grew up in Tracy and recently returned to the area after spending time in Nashville, TN, will be performing at City Hall Bar & Grill at 7 p.m. on Aug. 26.

City Hall Bar and Grill ‘getting close’ to constructing grill

It won't be long now and the latter portion of the investor-owned City Hall Bar & Grill will become a reality. “Yes, it's true,” said City Hall Bar & Grill Investment Board President Eric Buysse, when asked if the rumor was true that construction of the restaurant portion of City Hall Bar and Grill will soon get underway.

“We are getting close and we are looking for another $75,000. We are planning on securing the rest of the money through a few more investors, and with that said, we are planning to start construction this fall.”

Investors must be in place by September. Shares are $500 each with a minimum investment set at $7,500. Investors can be an individual, business or a group of people. Katie VanHecke is the Investment Board Vice President, Ronni Vlaminck is secretary, while John Noyes and Laurie Laleman are also board members.

Kim Vlaminck and Heather Fier are the operators of the bar. They formerly worked at Bubba's Bar.

The establishment got its name from the building that originally housed the Minneota City Hall. And, Buysse said, if construction is able to begin this fall, investors are hopeful that the construction of the much-needed restaurant will be completed by the spring of 2018.

The City Hall Bar & Grill investors purchased the former Bubba's Bar building on Jan. 1, 2017. The new establishment underwent an extensive renovation project, has been a success since it opened for business earlier this year.

“We have had very good community support and very good comments about the bar and what has been done so far,” said Buysse. “We are very thankful for that.”

The new restaurant will be constructed using local contractors. Bruce Laleman Construction will do the construction portion of the building that be located in the empty lot next to the current bar. B&B Electric will do the electrical, geothermal heating and cooling work. Coequyt Plumbing will be doing the plumbing work inside the restaurant. The Bar & Grill has been hosting several events to entice customers to the establishment.

Local singer Kayla Daniels, who grew up in Tracy and recently returned to the area after spending time in Nashville, TN, will be performing at City Hall Bar & Grill at 7 p.m. on Aug. 26.

“Kayla was easy to set up,” said Buysse. “Katie VanHecke just called her and she was great to work with.”

City Hall Bar & Grill recently hosted the 16th annual Minneota Memorial Run that promotes motorcycle and road safety while also remembering those lost in motor vehicle accident.

Proceeds from that events were donated to Relay for Life/American Cancer Society.

“We have enjoyed all of our events and are excited about our first musical event.”

The Football Boosters will also be serving food that evening, which is another example of community groups working together.

“We plan to continue to have events both inside and outside, music included,” Buysse added.
