Cold weather freezes out, ‘Light Up the Night’

The annual “Light Up the Night,” sponsored by Prairie Home Hospice at the Veteran’s Park in Minneota played second fiddle to the cold weather on Sunday night. The event was called off due to frigid conditions.

Officials from Prairie Home Hospice have re-set it for 5:15 p.m., Sunday, December 15 at Veteran’s Park. The event normally serves to honor those who have been affected by Cancer and served by Prairie Home Hospice. Officials said the event was held as a fund-raiser but also as a way to “give back to the community.”

Prairie Home Hospice yearly honors the volunteers who help make the hospice services possible. The event usually includes singing of Christmas songs plus the ready of the list of those being honored by people who give in their name.

A social hour with cider and cookies is usually held afterwards. Prairie Home Hospices Light Up the Night kickoff event in Marshall was a success last weekend.

The parade, lighting of the lights and a fireworks display highlighted the event. In Marshall the Light Up the Night event will continue every Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening from 5-9 p.m. at Independence Park.
