Community Thanksgiving dinner at Bethel Church

Five years ago, members of the Bethel Community Fellowship Church saw a void in the community. The chance to bring community members together on Thanksgiving was just too good of an idea to pass up.

So they planned an event and today, it’s become a tradition —Thanksgiving and the Bethel Church. As a result, the FREE Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be held at noon on Thursday, November 23 at the Bethel Community Fellowship Church.

“We’ve been preparing for this and are all ready. It’s a wonderful time to give thanks to the Lord,” said Pastor Tom Nomeland. He mentioned the fact the church still needs pumpkin pies — so contributors are wanted.

The nice thing about the event is that, “Everyone is welcome. No restrictions.” It simply is a time for the community to celebrate Thanksgiving together. Since Bethel Fellowship began hosting the event, the numbers have grown.

They are hoping for, and expecting, 90 to 100 people to show up for the Thanksgiving feast that will include all the regular Thanksgiving foods.

While reservations are preferred — they are not required, according to Pastor Nomeland. Bethel Fellowship has also made arrangements for those who don’t have transportation to the Thanksgiving feast.

“Call Dave for rides at 872-6604 or 828-7433,” said the pastor.

“It’s been growing and we hope to get over 100 people. It’s a fun time and we enjoy pulling the community together for this event,” said Pastor Nomeland.
